Setting up Mac Mail
1. Open Mail
2. Go to the "Mail" menu, and select "Preferences"
3. A new window will open, click the "Accounts" button on the menu.
4. In the bottom left of this window, click the + button
5. From the drop-down "Account Type" box, select POP
6. In "Account Description" enter anything you wish, for example "My Email Account", in "Full Name" enter your name, and in "Email Address" enter your new email address. Click "Continue"
7. In "Incoming Mail Server" write mail.yourdomain.com (i.e. replacing yourdomain.com with whatever you domain name is - for us it would be mail.cleartide.co.uk)
8. In username, write your username. We normally just use your full email address as your username so your username would be yourname@yourdomain.com
For password, enter the password we gave you. This is CaSe SeNsItIvE - so be sure you put capitals where they should be.
9. Mail will now check that it can connect to the server. This may take a moment. Be sure you are connected to the internet.
10. Mail will now ask for your "Outgoing mail server". It may try to fill this in for you automatically, delete whatever it puts in there if it does, and manaully type mail.yourdomain.com - i.e the same as you used for your incoming mail server in step 7.
11. Under this, make sure the box that says "Use Authentication" is checked, and your username and password are entered. These should both be exactly the same as you typed in step 8.
12. Mail will then check your settings, (again this may take a moment) before coming back with confirmation that everything is setup correctly.
N.B. If you have multiple accounts setup on the computer, you may need to manually specify which account to send messages from. To do this, just create a new message, and select which account to send that message from using the drop-down box that appears underneath the subject field.
